Many of our customers want to make sure their businesses use the best environmentally friendly packaging, not just to impress their customers, but also from a real desire to reduce their impact on the planet. Some businesses may have become more eco-conscious over time or, as in the case with Rootd, began with the intention of providing the most environmentally friendly options available.
The Client: Rootd
Dr Yelena Neal is passionate about health and wellness and when she set up Rootd, a fitness company, she wanted to provide the best environmentally friendly products. “I’d used yoga mats that were slippery and I wanted to produce something better. I was determined to create something I would want to buy – our mats are eco-friendly and made from natural materials like FSC certified cork and natural tree rubber. It meant we were providing the best quality, eco-conscious products that would benefit the user and the planet.”
The Challenge:
Having sourced the right products, Yelena wanted to ensure the packaging fully protected these high value items. “We knew the packaging had to be robust and substantial to protect the mats when they were being shipped. The mats are high quality and must arrive in perfect condition. We know they might be thrown around when being shipped so need strong protection.”
Yelena also needed the packaging to match Rootd's eco-conscious values by being easy to recycle and contain recycled content.
The look and feel were important too. “The brand is really important for me – it stands for my passion for fitness and sustainable living, and we want our customers to enjoy being part of this. Being able to print on the packaging was essential.”
The cost of the packaging mattered too. Yelena needed to balance premium sustainability features without compromising quality.
The Solution:
Environmentally friendly packaging solutions are at the heart of ASC Direct’s business. The team knew immediately the type of packaging Yelena was looking for. “Working with ASC was great. Our designs came back really quickly and we were able to order blanks for testing, so we knew what we were getting. We tried them and they were perfect.”
The boxes are doubled walled corrugated and very strong. “The yoga mats are 3 kgs each and needed the additional protection provided by double walled cardboard.”
To reinforce the brand, the company logo and messages were printed on the outside of the packaging, making it instantly recognisable and delighting customers with their purchase.
The Result:
Yelena is really pleased with the packaging. "The boxes are really good quality – we’ve had no issues with products being damaged – an essential for any business but particularly for us, focussed as we are on reducing waste and sustainability.”
Good customer service was important too. “We’re busy with operations and serving our customers so we really appreciated the good, speedy, really clear communication.”
